We’re delighted you would like to host a Slow Food Dinner at your restaurant. Following is an outline of the information you’ll need for hosting the dinner.

What the Hosting Restaurant Agrees to:

  • Become a member of Slow Food (if you are not already). Your membership demonstrates your support of Slow Food. As a business member, you also receive a listing and hyper link on the our web site HudsonValleySlowFood.org.

  • Set a menu featuring locally grown and locally produced foods. The menu can be based on a theme, ingredient or cooking method--it’s up to you. Provide a written description of the menu so the local convivium.

  • Serve the dinner family style with “open” seating, so individual parties are not set at isolated tables. The Slow Food philosophy is to bring people back to the pleasures of the table and to celebrate community.

  • A suggested maximum price for dinner (inclusive wine, tax, gratuity) of $60 per person for Slow Food members and set a price of $10 more for non-members. Contribute a portion of each ticket ($5) to Hudson Valley Slow Food.

  • Provide one complimentary dinner for a convivium member to serve as liaison or “speaker” for the evening.

  • Promote the dinner through the restaurant’s normal channels--mailing list, tabletop, poster, e-list, newsletter, etc.

What the Hudson Valley Slow Food Convivium Agrees to:

  • Give each hosting restaurant an exclusive date to avoid schedule conflicts with other local Slow Food events and dinners.

  • Review the plans for the dinner and designate it as a Slow Food event.

  • Provide promotional support: List the dinner and the restaurant-member on the local web site SlowFoodHudsonValley.org. Send an announcement of the dinner to the Hudson Valley members via our e-list. Send a release to local press. Include the dinner in other Slow Food announcements or flyers as time allows.

  • Provide a convivium member to serve as liaison for the evening, as such the member can provide information on the local convivium events and activities, membership and Slow Food in general. We can also help identify other possible “speakers” for the dinner, if desired.
