We’re delighted you would like to host a Slow Food
Dinner at your restaurant. Following is an outline of the information you’ll
need for hosting the dinner.
What the Hosting Restaurant Agrees
to:

Become a member of Slow Food (if you are not already).
Your membership demonstrates your support of Slow Food. As a business
member, you also receive a listing and hyper link on the our web site
HudsonValleySlowFood.org.

Set a menu featuring locally grown and locally
produced foods. The menu can be based on a theme, ingredient or
cooking method--it’s up to you. Provide a written description of the
menu so the local convivium.

Serve the dinner family style with “open” seating,
so individual parties are not set at isolated tables. The Slow Food
philosophy is to bring people back to the pleasures of the table and
to celebrate community.

A suggested maximum price for dinner (inclusive wine,
tax, gratuity) of $60 per person for Slow Food members and set a price
of $10 more for non-members. Contribute a portion of each ticket ($5)
to Hudson Valley Slow Food.

Provide one complimentary dinner for a convivium
member to serve as liaison or “speaker” for the evening.

Promote the dinner through the restaurant’s normal
channels--mailing list, tabletop, poster, e-list, newsletter, etc.
What the Hudson Valley Slow Food
Convivium Agrees to:

Give each hosting restaurant an exclusive date to
avoid schedule conflicts with other local Slow Food events and
dinners.

Review the plans for the dinner and designate it as a
Slow Food event.

Provide promotional support: List the dinner and the
restaurant-member on the local web site SlowFoodHudsonValley.org.
Send an announcement of the dinner to the Hudson Valley members via
our e-list. Send a release to local press. Include the dinner in other
Slow Food announcements or flyers as time allows.

Provide a convivium member to serve as liaison for the
evening, as such the member can provide information on the local
convivium events and activities, membership and Slow Food in general.
We can also help identify other possible “speakers” for the
dinner, if desired.
